Documenting Leadership in Sustainability: Inside the ILN & Schulich Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Program

Aligning Public Interest with Private Investment

In June, our team at ED_PARA Education Communications had the privilege of capturing the essence of the Schulich Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Network over four days. Through photos and videos, we documented the dynamic exchanges, insightful discussions, and profound connections made during this prestigious program.

A Global Initiative for Sustainable Development

The Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Program (SIFP) is a remarkable G7 initiative, launched by the Investor Leadership Network (ILN) with the support of the Government of Canada. Since its inception at the G7 meeting in Quebec City in 2018, the program has grown, expanding its reach to a broader audience in 2023. Partnering with the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada, the Fellowship aims to bridge the global infrastructure gap by aligning public interest with private investment.

Empowering Infrastructure Leaders

Throughout the four-day shoot, we had the opportunity to interview several key figures who shared their perspectives on the significance of the program. One speaker emphasized the critical role of infrastructure in connecting economies and people, highlighting its importance on a global scale. Another discussed the program’s goal of developing sustainable infrastructure that appreciates economic, environmental, social, and governance aspects. The dual challenges of the infrastructure and information gaps were also underscored, with the program’s efforts to bridge these gaps being a focal point. The importance of building long-term relationships in emerging markets was highlighted, considering this program a great first step. Insights on the mutual exchange of knowledge between fellows from emerging countries and institutional investors were shared, and the immense value in the exchange of knowledge, not just with professors but among the fellows themselves, was emphasized. Diverse perspectives were appreciated from professionals across government and private sectors worldwide, reiterating the common challenges faced across different geographies and the shared learning experiences. The opportunity to learn about project financing in infrastructure from peers and Canadian models was valued, with infrastructure being highlighted as a solution to global threats like climate change and inequality, urging fellows to leverage their newfound knowledge and relationships.

A Testament to Excellence

Our visual content showcases the dynamic learning environment, the engaged participants, and the collaborative spirit that defines the Schulich Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Network. From case study analyses and site visits to simulations and networking events, our photos and videos reflect the depth and breadth of this transformative program. As one speaker aptly put it, the program is evolving into a centre of excellence, with alumni becoming ambassadors for sustainable infrastructure. Ultimately, we aimed to emphasize the importance of mentorship and the ongoing pursuit of building resilient infrastructure.

Congratulations to the Fellows

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the fellows for their dedication and passion. Your experiences and the relationships you’ve built here will undoubtedly propel you to new heights in your careers.
